• Days 1-3: Arrival in Luang Prabang and transfer to you hotel to acclimatise and rest then you can amble around a picturesque town with excursions to the Kouang Si waterfalls, various caves hewn by Buddhist devotees and to Xang Men for a rural treat just across the Mekong River
• Day 4-5: Flight to Vientiane, maybe the most laid back world capital, just strolling along the Mekong (yes it’s still there!) promenade in the evening is thrill enough with a thousand and one lanterns illuminating the magical spectacle
• Days 4-6: Another transfer to Siem Reap in Cambodia is the start of two days f exploring the Angkor temple complex to the north of the town. Siem Reap itself is despite the tourist hub aura still a pretty scintillating place
• Days 7-8: An overland transfer to the last leg of the journey to Phnom Penh reveals the royal Khmer palace, funky Romvong music and the Mekong River making another appearance in your itinerary, this time playing backdrop to the locals visiting the fair or shooting the breeze during the evening
• Day 9: Transfer and international flight from Phnom Penh via Bangkok back to the UK
