Nothing says more about the modern age than the ability of people at all stages of life to be able to whale watch off Greenland, trek across Peru or marvel at the lost temples of Angkor in Cambodia. Globe at One have from the outset been attuned to the requirements and preferences of the mature traveller. We have catered for a fair number of travellers over 50 and their feedback and suggestions have been invaluable.
The tour to Uruguay Immediately comes to mind as a great tour to experience the open spaces, great food and wonderfully hospitable hosts as does our new Southern Cone Tour encapsulating southern Argentina and Chile with a cruise around the southern Chilean archipelago, finally ending up at Puerto Montt. South East Asia is of course one of our covered regions with Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos being particularly suited for the more mature traveller. Within Laos moving about is difficult and the trip from Luang Prabang, although fine overland for yours truly is best served, I feel, by a short 45 minute flight due to the long and winding nature of the roads here.
Travel insurance can also be a tricky subject as you get older and to that end we would recommend Jestons Ltd, an insurance broker of 25 years experience who are adept at helping to provide comprehensive and very reasonably priced travel insurance for all ages, if you ask for Ellen, she says she can fit you up in half an hour! In keeping with our consideration of the more senior traveller, most hotels recommended are of a 4 star or higher standard which eliminates the wide variation of quality that can sometimes lead to disappointment when you actually open the door of your room. Boutique hotels which are intimately themed hotels may well cater for this quality requirement; in the case of Puerto Madryn or El Calafate in southern Argentina an excellent 3 star guest house is also provides the pleasant cosiness that often enhances a stay in these nether latitudes.
