The Altiplano Ramble takes in the town of Riobamba and then discending into the Amazon basin, so diverse range of accommodation is provided for this tour. Like it’s neighbour Colombia, the climate on the high Andes I cool and as such detail such as heating is available. The Abraspungo is a highland hacienda, regal and elegant, it is a place of the highest appointment.
Idiosyncratic to this tour is the camping that you experience as you descend into the Amazon region of Ecuador. Here we encourage an ecological aspect to this tour in so far that your carbon footprint in this delicate ecological location will remain very light. Tents will be provided and expert guides will of course be on hand to assist you in pitching your accommodation!
You of course arrive most probably in Quito and we advise at least a night there to accommatise to the altitude. The Dann Carlton is an international class establishment, there are also guesthouses, hostels and hotels of all types situated in the southern diplomatic zone of Quito for those wanting to be near restaurants, internet cafes and bars before they depart for the pleasure of Riobamba and beyond.
