The hotels of Luang Prabang and Laos in general are to be commended for a country coming out of a period of cultural isolation not so long ago. The Ancient Hotel in Luang nestling beside the Mekong is an example of a place that evokes a mix of French and Lao aesthetics set in a town that is culturally a jewel of South East Asia. The facilities are first rate, no disappointments here.
Vientiane isn’t far behind and the establishments like the Inner City are of similar high quality. As ever in these very popular destinations there are places to suit all budgets and intimate guesthouses and hostels are also available as my contacts in Laos share my enthusiasm for people to experience such a fantastic country.
