Ahh… O Carnaval and hotels! The first thing to say is the sooner you book the better it will be in keeping your costs in check. Flexibility is also an n approach to employ in planning your stay with our help. Globe at One finds three main districts of the city to stay in. First there is the Southern Cone (Ipanema, Copacabana, Leblon), then what I term “Mid Town Rio” which encapsulates Catete, Flamengo and Glória. The third zone I consider is Santa Teresa by itself since physically it is cut off from the rest of the city by dint of its altitude, I would throw in the Lapa district which lies adjacent to Sta. Teresa.
For Sambadrome Lapa and the Mid-Town options are physically nearer, the southern zone has more of an emphasis for visitor amenities. Santa Teresa is even nearer to Carnival’s centrepiece – it is to Rio what Camden town is to London, but with much more elevation and hills to negotiate.
We recommend Catete, Flamengo and Glória districts which are not as expensive as the southern zone; nevertheless early booking is the key to experiencing Rio’s carnival at its most regal.
The same story is true of Salvador and Recife, rooms go very quickly many months in advance of the even which next year falls on the dates February 9th to 12th 2013.
Barranquilla and Montevideo also host world renowned bacchanal at this time and we at Globe at One can assist you in enjoying these too.
