The special needs of female travellers are quite specific, not least the personal security considerations
that accompany a trip to places where sometimes a patriarchal attitude still pervades!
To that end we at Globe at One are planning group journeys to The Southern Cone of South America and another one to Vietnam and Cambodia termed Grand Indochina which will leave during the first week of November (7th) and every two weeks thereafter leaving each Friday, so if you don't fancy travelling alone, then enquire about these particular tours. Miranda France's book "Bad Times in Buenos Aires" also gives credence to connecting with people in the countries visited. Let's face it, women generally communicate on a more personal level with other people while out on the road and to that end I'd recommend getting onto a social network site (not necessarily Facebook, but Craigslist or the Gumtree sites) to get a little connection before arriving. Obviously the usual cautions should apply and we at Globe at One will also be able to assist in that capacity too if so required. Recommended dress/clothing, where to stay, immunisations to take, understanding the role of women in a destination culture, juggling children while travelling are all things we at Globe at One have had to counsel on while abroad, most women do get it right but one can't stress too much about research, caution, an open mind and a generous shot of humour on your journey. |
