State of Bahia, Brazil Brazil

There’s culture and history and then there is Bahia with it’s Pelourinho and Barra and links to Africa and of course Brazil’s most authentic Carnival celebrations

This is the real cultural heart of Brazil, Pelourinho, Salvador in Bahia takes your breath away and you can hear the renowned Afro-bloco musical ensemble Olodum practice daily in the main square to boot!

This colonial throwback is still alive and kicking, this is where capoeira reaches its perfection and where Africa still lays it’s hand over much of what goes on here. Chocolate, Amado and the ‘real’ carnival manifest itself
